October 2016 – Update

Hi guys,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here and I really wanted to keep you posted on what I’ve been doing. So here it is. I’m having an amazing time here on the Carnival Victory. I’m really lucky to have an amazing band to perform with 6 nights a week. We survived Hurricane Matthew with minimal amounts of wave by escaping between Cuba and Key West if I’m correct. That left place for 4 days at sea without guests, which meant we had the chance to have short lines at the Pizza Shop, a ghost ship to enjoy and deck parties to entertain the crew members.

Please enjoy the following live video from Living in America , one of the production shows here on the Victory. I’m really happy to be playing on this fantastic show.

I’ll have some live videos from our Casino Sets very soon!

July 2016 – Update

Hi Guys!
Its nice to be on vacation, but it seems like I work more than when I actually work. I’ve been getting my next Carnival Contract ready and practicing everyday. Its been really amazing playing my new drums as well as my new Yamaha Dtxm-12. I’m working on some new material with these bad boys!

I’ve also been digging out some old footage from various performances and would like to share the following with you. This is an interpretation of Stop! by Joe Bonamassa, played in 11/8. This was for my odd time recital back in January 2015 at ICMP. I hope you like it!

May 2016 – Update

Hi Guys,
I have delayed my post a little bit since I just started my holidays. I had a blast performing on the Carnival Glory, the 6 nights of performance a week really benefited my playing regarding consistency and helped me build a vast repertoire of songs.  I am now on holidays, enjoying Brazil for a little bit.  Over here, I had the chance to look at the local scene and find amazing musicians to jam with every Tuesdays.  I’m currently resting and getting ready for my next contract with Carnival; scheduled for late July in the Bahamas.

I have also added to my arsenal of drum sets last month. I am so excited about this purchase. I just bought a 4 piece Pearl Masters which matches my Pearl Masters (another 4 piece).

So I had a 20″ kick, 10″, 12″, 14″ toms
Now added a 22″ kick, 12″, 16″ toms and 14″ matching snare.

I cannot wait to get back home and play those! If everything goes well, I will post a few videos when I return to Canada with these new drums in action.

Stay Tuned.

March 2016 – Update

Hi Guys,
I am currently enjoying some good food in Cozumel Mexico where we are docked for today. I am remotely making room on my office walls at home since I have finally received my Master’s Degree from UEL/ICMP as well as my award for Best Overall – MMus Popular Music Performance.  The Glory Daze (Carnival Glory Band) line up has changed; welcoming Regina Daniels and Andy Smith on vocals. Here is a picture of the new line up.

February 2016 – Update

Hi guys,
Its been an amazing month on the Glory! I had the chance to play on a fly on show for Marcus Anthony, play at the captain’s celebrations, VIFP party as well as our regular sets. I also received my action camera (go-pro style) and have going through tests in order to develop a little bit of material until the end of the contract.  Though I miss the land life, I’m having a great time visiting the islands and playing every night. I am coming back to Canada for gigs this summer, so if you need me, send me an e-mail and we can work things out.
Here’s the link to my first camera test
Stay tuned,

2015 Review

Wow time flies by, 2015 is already over! This has been great year for me. Lets revisit it and see why it was a really special year from a professional standpoint. My year started in London England and as you know, I was researching the impact of Music Technologies in Live Music Performance. This study led to my graduation from my MMus with a Distinction. I was also awarded with APME’s (Association of Popular Music Education) Best overall for the year 2015-2016, awarded to the student with the highest average in both the Academic and Performance portions of the programme.

Pierre Luc Lalonde – Best Overall – MMus Popular Music Performance 2014/2015

The 12 months I spent in England were very beneficial to my development and helped me reach new understanding of my identity as a musician. I had the chance to meet amazing musicians, perform in many of the great and legendary venues in London. In November, I released a promo video which illustrates some of those evolutions.

At the moment I am on the Carnival Glory cruise ship as a show band musician, cruising through the Caribbean’s. I get to perform every night in a different musical context, whether it is performing some Motown, Disco, 80’s pop/rock, 90’s and Beyond, Classic Rock, Variety sets or Super Star Live (live band karaoke), I get to practice stylistic playing, sight reading as well as growing as a musician and individual. Although my time on social media is limited, I wanted to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
